DO NOT GIVE UP

DO NOT GIVE UP

Mario Benedetti is said to have written a poem that is a call for non-resignation, for taking a further step, for moving yet the difficulties. Its title is ‘Do Not Give Up’ and it follows the inspirational style  of the poem we recently shared in this very blog. It reads [Free and unofficial translation]:

Do not give up, there’s still time
To reach and start again,
Accept your shadows,
Bury your fears,
Release the ballast,
Restart your flight.

Do not give up as life is that,
Continue the journey,
Pursue your dreams,
Unlock time
Run the rubble,
And uncover the sky.

Do not give up, please do not give in,
Although the cold burns,
Although fear bites,
Although the sun goes down,
And the wind is silent,
There’s still fire in your soul
There is still life in your dreams.

Because life is yours and yours is also desire
Because it is what you wanted and because I love you
Because there is wine and love, it’s true.
Because there are no wounds that cannot be healed over time.

Open the doors,
Remove the bolts,
Leave the walls that protected you,
Live life and accept the challenge,
Take back the laughter,
Rehearse a song,
Drop your own guard and extend your hands,
Unfold your wings
Try again,
Celebrate life and regain heaven.

Do not give up, please do not give in,
Although the cold burns,
Although fear bites,
Although the sun goes down and the wind is silent,
There’s still fire in your soul,
There is still life in your dreams
Because every day is a new beginning,
Because this is the time and the best time.
Because you’re not alone because I love you.

A beautiful song not only to be hopeful, but also a call to the human side that beats within us.

Kisses and hugs,
